My name is Nicky. I am a qualified, highly empathetic counsellor with a wide range of experience. I am a registered member of the BACP, the organisation that sets, promotes and maintains standards for the counselling professions. I hold a BACP accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling as well as a Certificate in Working with Couples from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and a Certificate in CBT.
My strengths lie in my capacity to non-judgementally relate to my clients, instilling a feeling of being heard and understood. This ability creates a valuable, therapeutic relationship where clients feel safe to identify and work through their current difficulties with me. I am trained to understand how past experiences and current behaviour may be linked.
Alongside my private practice, I also work as a Staff Counsellor for a large public-sector organisation providing short term counselling. I have also worked as an Honorary Psychotherapist within the NHS as well as for a local children’s charity providing counselling to parents of children with emotional difficulties. I have also worked for a charitable organisation delivering time unlimited, affordable counselling to adults.
My BACP registration requires that I attend regular clinical supervision ensuring good practice, as well as attending continued professional development courses, meaning my knowledge and skills are constantly kept up to date. A link to the BACP Ethical Framework can be found below.
I hold an enhanced DBS (criminal records check) and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office ensuring your data and confidentiality is protected at all times. A link to the ICO can be found below.
I am covered by full professional insurance.
I work with adults, offering face-to-face, short-term more solution focused or longer term, time unlimited counselling.
I am experienced working with a range of issues including but not limited to:
